York Schulich MBA Application Essays

The following questions will assist the Admissions Committee in evaluating your application. This information is required to provide a background to assess an applicant’s suitability for graduate study in business and to determine the potential for benefiting from and contributing to Schulich’s programs.

Please answer the following questions and ensure that each essay is no more than 750 words in length. (unless otherwise stated) Your name should appear on each page of the essay.

Essay 1. Assessing your career progress to date, describe your short and long term career goals and how the Schulich School of Business will contribute to these plans and your future success.

Essay 2. The Schulich School of Business is global and widely recognized for its diversity. Each applicant has a set of unique experiences and perspectives which contribute to the program. How will your background enhance and broaden your learning and that of your classmates in Schulich's dynamic environment?

Essay 3. Describe how your involvement in activities outside of work have contributed to your personal achievements and enhanced your self-development.

Essay 4. Complete 3 of the 6 following questions or statements. Your response to each question or statement should be no more than 250 words in length.

    a. If you could change one decision you made in your life, what would it be? How would your life be different today?

    b. If you wrote a book, what would the title be? Why?

    c. Comment on 'imagination is more important than knowledge'.

    d. "I wish the Admissions Committee had asked me…."

    e. Comment on the barriers you encountered that impacted your team's ability to realize its full potential.

    f. Comment on why innovation is critical to success.
