Nanyang Business School, Singapore Nanyang MBA 2011-2012 Personal Statement of Objectives and Essays The Admissions Committee is interested in getting to know you on both a professional and personal level. Please answer the following questions candidly. All applicants are required to complete four essays, with the option of a fifth essay that may be used to support your case for admission into the program. (Do not use the symbols " & ~) Essay 1. Briefly assess your career progress to date. Elaborate on your future career plans and how pursuing an MBA will help you achieve these. (500 word limit) Essay 2. Answer any ONE of these two questions below. (500 word limit) (a) Describe one of your most meaningful and rewarding leadership challenges. Reflect on the leadership attributes you aspire to develop through your Nanyang MBA experience, and why these are important to your future goals. (b) Discuss how and why a global event that occurred in the past two years has influenced or impacted the way you think about leadership. Essay 3. Describe a time when you failed at what you set out to do. What insights did you obtain from the experience? Did this experience create a paradigm shift in your definition of failure (400 word limit) Essay 4. Tell us about a time or incident where you had to propel yourself beyond expectations or established norms. Explain why you did it. (300 word limit) Optional Essay. Is there any additional information that is critical for the Admissions Committee to know which has not been covered elsewhere in this application? (500 word limit) Additional Essays Social Responsibility: Briefly describe your involvement in any Social Responsibilty or Sustainable Development activities (maximum 150 words). Job Responsibilities: Briefly describe your current job responsibilities. (maximum 100 words) Application Deadline Round 1: 31 Dec 2011; Round 2: 30 Mar 2012 Nanyang MBA Application Essays Creation Charges: Rs. 30,495 ($ 760, € 510)... Complete Charges. * The package does not include the optional and additional essays. The above charges are applicable if you are providing the drafts. In case you require brainstorming, the additional charges would be 50% of the base and in case the essays are to be written from scratch, the additional charges would be 100% of the base. In what role do you see yourself working in immediately after completing your MBA studies and what is your longer term (10 years) career vision? What skills do you expect to gain from studying at Nanyang and how will they contribute to your vision? (maximum 500 words) Essay 3. Answer the following questions (maximum 500 words) If you are planning to stay in your industry sector post-MBA : Identify the key issues facing organizations in your sector over the next three years? What course of action would you you recommend to such organizations? If you are planning to switch industry sector post-MBA : Identify the key issues facing organizations in that target sector you wish to go to over the next three years? What course of action would you recommend to such organizations? Essay 4. Describe two of your most important achievements to date where you led a team and why you consider these two as most important. (maximum 500 words) Optional Essay. Is there any additional information that is critical for the Admissions Committee to know which has not been covered elsewhere in this application? (maximum 350 words) Additional Essays Social Responsibility: Briefly describe your involvement in any Social Responsibilty or Sustainable Development activities (maximum 150 words).
