The goal of our essays is to gain a greater understanding of why you want to pursue an MBA and what you will bring to Duke, in addition to your experiences that shape your unique perspective. Prepare your essays carefully. The Admissions Committee considers your responses to the essay questions important in the selection process. Please respond fully and concisely using 1.5 line spacing. Please avoid using a font size smaller than 10-point. Please limit your response to two pages Essay 1. We find that our students apply to our programs for a variety of personal and professional reasons. What do you hope to gain from The Duke MBA and how will it support you in your personal and professional goals? If you are interested in a specific concentration or the HSM Certificate, please discuss in this essay. Essay 2. A significant amount of the learning takes place through students sharing both inside and outside the classroom. Describe how your overall experience, both personally and professionally, will benefit your classmates. Optional Essay. If you feel there are extenuating circumstances of which the admissions committee should be aware, please explain them here (e.g. unexplained gaps in work, choice of recommenders, inconsistent or questionable academic performance, significant weakness in your application). Note that you should NOT upload additional essays nor additional recommendations in this area. The Optional Essay is intended to provide the admissions committee with insight into your extenuating circumstances only. In case you require brainstorming, the additional charges would be 50% of the base and in case the essays are to be written from scratch, the additional charges would be 100% of the base.
