Professional Recommendation;
Columbia Executive MBA Application Essays
Submit two
recommendations from people who can speak directly about your managerial
ability and professional promise.
The Admissions
Committee prefers that one recommendation be from your direct supervisor.
If you are unable to secure a recommendation from your direct supervisor,
please submit a statement of explanation in Essay Question 5. The other
recommendation should be from a former supervisor, if possible, or another
professional associate who is senior to you.
If you are a
college senior or have worked full-time for less than six months, at least
one, but preferably both, of your recommendations should be from an
individual who can comment on your managerial abilities, such as a summer
employer or another individual who you feel can objectively assess your
professional promise. The second recommendation may be from a college
professor.
The above
person is applying for admission to the Columbia Business School. In our
consideration of applicants we are particularly interested in the candid
comments of individuals familiar with their professional accomplishments.
We have listed 10 questions which are designed to address the applicant’s
strengths and weaknesses.
However, we do
not want to limit your response to this form. Feel free to use your own
letterhead, but please answer all questions. We encourage you to retain a
copy of this recommendation as completed forms cannot be returned.
